Alfredo James ‘Al’ Pacino (born April 25, 1940) is an Academy Award, Emmy Award and Tony Award-winning American stage and film actor. He is probably best known for his roles as Michael Corleone in The Godfather Trilogy and as Tony Montana in the 1983 film Scarface. He has been nominated for or won a clutch of awards: Academy Award as Best Actor in 1992 for Scent of a Woman Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor – Mini-series or Movie in 2004 for Angels in America Golden Globe for Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama in 1974 for Serpico and in 1993 for Scent of a Woman; Best Actor – Mini-series in 2004 for Angels in America, and the Cecil B DeMille award in 2001’ BAFTA as Best Actor in a Leading Role in 1974 for The Godfather Part ll; Dog Day Afternoon Tony Awards as Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play in 1969 for Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? and Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play in 1977 for The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel He is regarded by many as one of the best film actors of his generation. |
