James Maitland Stewart (1908-1997) was an iconic, Academy Award-winning American film and stage actor, best known for his self-effacing screen persona. Over the course of his career, he starred in many films widely considered classics and was nominated for five Oscars, winning one in competition and one life achievement. Throughout his seven decades in Hollywood, James Stewart starred in such classics as The Philadelphia Story, Harvey, It's a Wonderful Life, Rear Window, and Vertigo. Other films include Broken Arrow, The Greatest Show on Earth, Mr Smith goes to Washington, Anatomy of a Murder, The Big Sleep, Mr Hobbs Takes a Vacation, Shenandoah and The Rare Breed Stewart became so familiar to American audiences that he was most often referred to by them as ‘Jimmy’ Stewart - a billing never found on the credits of any of his films. Jimmy Stewart was almost universally described by his collaborators as a kind, soft-spoken man and a true professional. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1708 Vine Street. Born Doris Mary Ann von Kappelhoff in1924, Doris Day is an American singer and actress. A vivacious blonde with a wholesome image, she was one of the most prolific actresses of the 1950s and 1960s, able to sing, dance, and play both comedy and dramatic roles. Her first successful film was Calamity Jane in 1953, one of Hollywood's most enduring musicals, which won the Oscar for Best Song for ‘Secret Love’. In Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much, she sang ‘Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera)’, which also won an Oscar. Other notable films are Love Me or Leave Me, Teacher’s Pet, The Pajama Game, Pillow Talk and The Glass Bottom Boat. She was a prolific recording artist and her hit singles include Sentimental Journey, My Dreams Are Getting Better All the Time, It’s Magic, Bewitched, Secret Love, I’ll Never Stop Loving You, Que Sera Sera and Move Over Darling.
